| “Education is fundamental to the kind of life we live individually and also as a society. Today in India millions of children have to go without getting any education due to lack of facilities, particularly in the countryside and due to parents not being able to afford the cost. That is why when I found out about Ekal’s efforts to provide education to the poorest, the tribal children, it touched my heart and I decided not only to sponsor a school but also to get actively involved with the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation in Australia to help its cause. |

|
| Ekal puts children on the path to learning with very few facilities and just one teacher. I cannot think of a more effective way of utilizing sponsor’s donations. If even the life of one child from each school is changed in a year, I would consider that my donation has served its purpose. |

|
| I urge everyone to please consider contributing to this very worthy cause.” |

| “I joined Ekal initially as I was interested in doing some community work. I saw an event flyer one day from Ekal and decided to find out more about the organisation. It opened my eyes to find out about the remote villages that Ekal works in. Until then I had not even realised that villages so remote and primitive existed in India! I was impressed with the approach of Ekal movement to tackle the illiteracy issue in these villages and how it then mobilises the entire community. |

| |
|
| Later I found many reasons to continue supporting Ekal. The volunteer team is extremely passionate about the work they do and this keeps me motivated. I can see how my money is being used in the organisation and I get regular feedback from India about the school I sponsor. It is amazing to know that despite being so far away from the country and I can still make such a big positive difference to people’s lives with a relatively small effort on my part! |
|
| |
|
| Joining Ekal was the best decision I made and I am glad to be part of this movement.” |

Literacy is a bridge from misery to
hope. It is a bulwark against poverty and a building block of
development. Literacy is the heart of human development.
For everyone, literacy is a basic human right.
In India, there
millions of forgotten kids who do not have any access to
literacy. Joining Ekal has given me an opportunity to think
about them and further their cause.
