Ekal sponsors come from all walks of life. They
range from well known businesses to university clubs to
individuals. These sponsors are spread all over the world. They
all have different life experiences and reasons for supporting
Ekal. However, they all share the common vision of eradicating
illiteracy from the remote/tribal villages of India and making
the local communities self-sufficient.
This desire to help the Ekal movement has not
stopped those either who are not yet financially independent. An
inspirational example of this is one Sydney high school student
who single-handedly raised enough money to sponsor a school by
organising a cultural program and along the way raised awareness
amongst her friends and local community about the issues faced
by the people living in remote villages.
Ekal sponsors in Australia have so
far sponsored more than 350 schools. And now Ekal Australia is
working hard to substantially contribute to the Global EVF’s aim
of sponsoring 100,000 schools by the year 2011.
